November 2002 : Sydney
Art Museum of New South Wales - saw many aboriginal paintings, and was also supposed to see aboriginal dancing, but that turned out to just be another didgeridoo player.

The Observatory - located on the top of a hill of course. Has the time ball on the tower which used to be dropped at 1 o'clock to signal the time to the surrounding people within the city and in the bay. Telescopes can be used, but only if you go at night and pay a fee.

The Chinese Gardens of Friendship - found in Darling Harbour. Very pretty and tranquil. Amazing how somewhere so quite can be found in such a noisy city. Saw a huge lizard basking in the sun.

The Rocks - place where the convicts first landed in Sydney. Went on a self-guided walking tour for an hour and a half along tiny streets and passageways that I would never have gone down had it not said to.

Had to try some real Aussie food so indulged in a "True Blue Meal Deal" which consisted of Crocodile Crunchies, Emu Triangles, Kangaroo Rissole and Wattle seed Damper (Bush bread). Think they are probably an acquired taste as Paddy wasn't sure about them either!

Bondi Beach - golden sand, blue water and lots of people on a hot sunny day! Paddy enjoyed a quick sunbathe before I walked from Bondi Beach to Coogee Beach along the coast. Passed by Tamarama Bay, Bronte Beach, Clovelly Bay, Gordons Bay and Waverley Cemetery before getting to Coogee Beach. Walk was approximately 4km and took just over an hour and a half.

Town Hall - location for 2002 Backpackers Expo. Spent 2 days picking up piles of leaflets and information and listening to talks, in-between drinking beer and acquiring other 'freebies'. Had a race with Fiona to see which of the two lambs (Chop and Cutlet) could drink its bottle of milk first and watched a sheep shearing demonstration.

Meet the Neighbours - night out at a bar where Paddy and I got to meet Dr. Karl Kennedy, Dr. Darcy Tyler and Stephanie Scully. Paddy had his photo taken with them all.

Imax - a special production for 3D viewing called Cyberworld. Computer graphics throughout incorporating a scene with the Simpsons.
