| I don't quite know what came over me when I agreed to take a job doing door-to-door sales for a telephone firm. I think it was the desperation of wanting more cash in my pocket so that I could see the rest of Australia.
I spent 3 months (and I yes it was a long 3 months) being sent off to all the Melburnian suburbs looking for victims, I mean customers! Wasn't too bad when it was summer, although it was pretty hot and I was desperate for people to offer me a glass of water... when it rained it chucked it down and I got soaked, and when it was cold I froze. Never mind - all good for character building. Can hand-on-my-heart say that I don't think I ever want to do a job like this again, but I am glad that I took up the challenge and experienced something very different from anything I would have ever done had I not gone travelling! |
